The 2025 Ford Explorer SUV continues as a suburban family shuttle with minor cosmetic updates and new tech to keep things fresh. What's New for 2025?
The 2025 Explorer lineup has been streamlined to four trims, with the addition of the base Active trim. The front and rear of the SUV have undergone mild redesigns, with a new grille and taillamps. Platinum, ST, and ST-Line buyers can also opt for the BlueCruise hands-free driving feature. The Explorer now features upgraded materials, new soft-touch center console and door panel surfaces, and new colour schemes.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The base Active, ST-Line, and Platinum trims have a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The ST trim is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine generating 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. All trims come with a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, and rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The 2025 Explorer's interior has been enhanced with new colour schemes and more soft-touch materials. The redesigned dashboard provides more space for front passengers, and accessing the third row is easier with a mechanism that moves the second-row seat at the push of a button. The Explorer offers ample cargo space of 2,132 litres when the third row is folded down, making it a practical choice for families.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Standard in the 2025 Explorer is a 13.2-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system. The Ford Digital Experience software allows for seamless integration of popular apps and services, including Google and Amazon, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also enables streaming videos, internet browsing, and gaming when the vehicle is parked. Multiple USB ports and power sockets ensure convenient connectivity for all passengers.
